Imperatus Energy, a leading Congolese oil and gas trading company, continues to strengthen its position in the global energy market. At the Congo Energy & Investment Forum 2025, the company shared its vision for growth and outlined the strategies driving its expansion.

Energy Capital & Power spoke with Jean Paul Sabbach, Trade Finance & Business Development for Imperatus Energy DMCC, during the forum to discuss the company’s role in shaping the Republic of Congo’s energy landscape and its broader ambitions across Africa.

With Congo aiming to increase production to 500,000 barrels per day, Imperatus Energy is aligning its activities to support this growth. The company has been established in the Congo for several years, operating primarily as a crude oil trading company. It is engaged in the commercialization and marketing of crude oil and is increasingly expanding its focus to include the commercialization of refined and derivative petroleum products. In addition to trading, Imperatus specializes in logistics, including transportation and storage.

Strategically, Imperatus operates a strategic office in Dubai and maintains active representation in Geneva, Switzerland, with its headquarters based in Pointe-Noire, Congo. From this strong foundation, the company is emerging as a significant player in the global energy market, focused on marketing and commercializing African crude oil across an expanding network of international markets. Its roots are embedded in Congo, with the majority of its team – including the CEO – originating from there. The company began by meeting local demand and has since expanded its reach to regional and international markets, including partnerships and operations in Senegal and Ivory Coast.

At CEIF, Imperatus Energy emphasized its commitment to elevating Congo’s profile as a leading producer of crude oil and LNG. The company aims to leverage its experience and business success in Congo as a foundation to expand its global footprint.

Imperatus Energy's participation in CEIF 2025 underscores its dedication to fostering regional synergies and capacity building in the gas sector. By integrating local markets with cross-border cooperation and innovative technology, the company seeks to unlock substantial opportunities in Africa’s energy landscape.Energy Capital & Power

The company's vision aligns with the broader goals of the Republic of Congo to enhance its energy sector, attract investment, and promote sustainable development. Through strategic partnerships and a focus on local expertise, Imperatus Energy is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy trading in the region.
